With the Data Expert, a real-time Event Hub and a new API service for AI translation, Viamedici makes product information management noticeably more efficient with Update 5.
Berlin, 1 October 2026 – Viamedici, provider of the product information management platform EPIM/5, is releasing Update 5 with a range of new features that make working with product data simpler, faster and more up to date. Three topics are at the core: querying product data in natural language, delivering changes to connected systems in real time and bringing product information to every target market faster.
“With Update 5, the path from question to answer becomes as short as possible: anyone who needs a piece of product information simply asks, in plain language, instead of working through clicks and menus. Query product data in plain language
The new Data Expert answers questions about product data via chat in natural language, without search masks and without deep system knowledge. The AI assistant searches and compares data and makes it transparent how it arrived at its answer. Access rights and roles can be defined individually, so data governance is maintained at all times: everyone only sees the data they are authorized to see. The result: it is no longer only system experts who get their answers quickly, but everyone on the team.
Real time instead of waiting
The Event Hub delivers changes to data and data store documents to connected systems in real time. Partner systems, front ends and marketplaces no longer have to wait for the next sync run. This noticeably shortens the time between a data change and its visibility in the market.
One product language for all markets
A new API service makes it possible to connect various AI translation services directly to EPIM/5. Product content is translated and synchronized automatically, without manual exporting and re-importing. A new AI-based conversion between metric and imperial units ensures that product data is correct in every region. In addition, EPIM/5 now supports all standardized CLDR language and country combinations.
Update 5 also brings further improvements for everyday work: metadata-based custom tabs make it possible to build individual user interfaces tailored to your own requirements. On top of that come extensive performance optimizations. Together, they mean less friction and faster results when working with product data every day.
Built with the teams who use EPIM every day
Part of Update 5 goes directly back to feedback from customers who work with EPIM every day, from small usability improvements to extensions of the Universal API. The EPIM/5 roadmap is developed in ongoing dialogue with exactly these teams.
